| This is my boxer Diamond. She was born February 14, 2004 and we purchased her from my uncle who is a breeder. When we first saw her she was the runt of the litter and quite a fighter, so we knew she was for us. Shortly after getting her I became pregnant with our first son and she was such a trooper to love on me even though there was going to be an addition to the family so soon. Only a month after my son was born Diamond ran in the road and was hit by a vehicle, she was hurt tremendously. Her right eye was damaged, her right shoulder was dislocated and had a hairline fracture, 1 front paw and 1 back paw had skin and tissue ripped right down to the muscle. I myself was trying to recover from a c-section and care for a newborn, while also caring for her. I had to administer an antibiotic along with pain medicine, clean and change her dressings, and drain 2 tubes from under her jaw because the skin was ripped completely back and had to be repaired in surgery. Not one time during this whole ordeal did she ever snap, bark, or growl at me for caring for her. I know she was in pain but I could sense that she knew I was caring for her. We have since had 2 more children and both of them love her dearly, she is truly a house dog and the pet we will never forget. I always tell people she was my first child and will always be the big sister to her 2 brothers and sister.
Sincerely,
Katrina B. Smith
